Amy Jacobs Joins Common Wealth Charlotte

A well-known member of Charlotte's nonprofit and financial services communities is back after a six-month break.

On August 1, Amy Jacobs joins Common Wealth Charlotte as its new Chief Opportunity Officer.

"I first came to know Amy as Executive Director of SHARE Charlotte," said Chuck Jones, Executive Director of CWC. "In that role, she became one of the best known faces and voices in Charlotte's nonprofit community. This is a great day for Common Wealth Charlotte, and I could not be happier welcoming someone with Amy's expertise, experience and enthusiasm to the team."

Jacobs moved to Charlotte from Cleveland in 2000 and began a 15-year career in the financial services industry, leading large-scale, transformational change in the areas of technology, home loans, deposits, e-commerce and quality and productivity for Bank of America and Ally Financial. She left financial services in 2015 to pursue a passion for philanthropy, and to bring her talent for operations and marketing to the Charlotte nonprofit community. She joined SHARE Charlotte to lead their community-wide giving campaigns, and succeeded its founder to become Executive Director in 2018.

Under her leadership, SHARE grew to more than 500 nonprofit partnerships, almost tripling their annual revenue, doubling their annual web traffic, and attracting more than 30 new corporate funders. Newsletter subscribers grew to more than 30K, and volunteer engagement doubled. In March 2020, Amy led her team to quickly pivot from a largely event-based environment to a virtual one while continuing to find unique and creative ways to connect Charlotte's nonprofit community with critical new donors and volunteers throughout the COVID19 pandemic.

"I am thrilled to be returning to Charlotte's nonprofit community by joining the talented team at CWC!" Jacobs said. "I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to do what I love - get people excited about the impact of important work, and encourage both organizations and individuals to do good in Charlotte, this time specifically for our economically-vulnerable families."

As CWC's first Chief Opportunity Officer, Amy will work with Charlotte's business, philanthropic and nonprofit communities to further the mission of the organization through engagement, synergy, storytelling, relationship-building, marketing, messaging and partnership. "All play a vital role in the success of a nonprofit organization in today's environment," added Jones. "Amy is exceptional at each of these, and Common Wealth Charlotte will benefit immensely by her leadership in these initiatives."
