CWC Welcomes Its Next CEO!

Common Wealth Charlotte (CWC) announces that Tashara Brown has been appointed as the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer, effective December 11. Well known for her work as Community Engagement Manager at Charlotte Works, Brown brings deep experience in community partnership, workforce development, and economic mobility. Her appointment follows a comprehensive search led by CWC’s Board of Directors.

Tashara has been in Charlotte for 12 years now, from Rochester, NY by way of Savannah, GA. Her favorite thing about Charlotte is how it gives the energy and opportunity of a big city, but the warmth and familiarity of a small town. A favorite financial motto she lives by is: “The greatest return on investment comes from investing in financial understanding.”

“I’m excited about the opportunity to lead an organization that is making a real impact on our community. Stepping into this role, I look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place and helping shape a vision that not only advances CWC’s mission but also inspires the people we serve and those who work alongside us every day,” says Brown, “CWC has spent years developing a trusted, trauma-informed model that helps Charlotte residents move from financial crisis to financial stability. I look to continue that legacy by partnering with our team, board, and community to shape CWC’s next chapter.”

Chuck Jones, who has served as Executive Director since 2018, expressed confidence and enthusiasm in welcoming Brown as his successor, “I couldn’t imagine handing the reins to anyone better suited to lead CWC forward. Tashara brings vision, energy, and a deep commitment to equity. I am genuinely happy she is stepping into this role. CWC is in excellent hands.”
